Need-Sensitive Private Study/Instrument Upgrade Application

Applications are accepted throughout the year, with the following deadlines:

Deadline: February 13, 2026 | Notification of Awards: Week of March 2, 2026
Deadline: April 24, 2026 | Notification of Awards: Week of May 11, 2026
Deadline: July 17, 2026 | Notification of Awards: Week of August 3, 2026

Deadline: October 16, 2026 | Notification of Awards: Week of November 2, 2026

Applications must be complete by the deadline to be reviewed. Applications are considered complete when students submit their application, student essay, and teacher recommendation.

Private Study Scholarships

  • Students who attend school in and reside in Berks County are eligible.
  • Awards are determined by need level, and are eligible for renewal every six months.
  • Students may request teachers use RMF’s teacher recommendation form in lieu of a written recommendation.
  • Awards will not be paid retroactively.

Instrument Upgrade Scholarships

  • Students who attend school in and reside in Berks County are eligible.
  • Awards are determined by need level, with a maximum award level of $500
  • Students may request teachers use RMF’s teacher recommendation form in lieu of a written recommendation.
  • Awards will not be paid retroactively – cannot be used for instruments already purchased, or purchased before award notification date.
